Our Story

When going on any journey, big or small, it is often taken for granted that there aren’t going to be any problems along the way.

Unfortunately, there are too many examples when this has not been the case, and many situations where this ends tragically.

My First Alert was independently funded and designed by Nimika Karadia in 2021. Having spent days watching the news of a tragic murder in London, UK, she thought that there must be a way to keep people informed during a journey and have a way to create a signal when you are in trouble. This led to the idea of My First Alert, an app that anyone can easily use as part of their journey in order to send a message, an alert, to family and friends when a change has happened during their journey, often when unable to access a mobile phone, and a continuous alert when travelling in a different direction to their intended destination to enable a means of tracking a location. This is something that everyone should be able to do.

It has been designed to be used by anyone, meaning it needs to be accessible to everyone.

My First Alert only requires the user to have the app downloaded. The SMS alert system means that you do not need to rely on your family and friends to have the app installed or have to request them to download the app (and incur costs) in order to receive your alerts. This makes it quick and easy to use in any scenario. We do not share your data and we do not have any ads within the app.

Safety is something that we cannot put a price on and that we shouldn’t take for granted. Our pricing reflects this and our belief that everyone should be able to access a way in which to feel safe on every journey that they make.
